Because I hate you all, here is the trailer for Mike Myers’ latest “comedy” which is about an Indian love guru hired to help a black hockey player get back together with his girlfriend so he can win the Stanley Cup. http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/theloveguru/large_trailer.html

No, I was not making that up, and it’s even more horrible looking than it sounds. I had to post it because I simply could not believe this movie actually exists. Can Mike Myers really just make ANYthing now? Are the studio execs looking at his scripts and thinking: “Well, I don’t think it’s funny, but I didn’t think the Austin Powers movies were either and they made a shitload of money…so what the hell, give him a couple hundred mil and let’s see what happens.” If it weren’t for guys like Simon Pegg I would have completely sworn off comedy films a couple of years ago. Well, okay, him and the Judd Apatow crew. Sure, I thought “Knocked Up” was overrated but, well, compared to the trailer for this abomination it looks like “Some Like it Hot”. Here’s my advice for all people of Indian descent: picket this movie. Seriously, form groups, carpool, whatever you have to do. Just surround theaters playing this pile and form a human barrier which stops anyone from getting inside. That would make Hollywood rethink what they’re doing right quick. How can the sight of Mike Myers playing a Hindu not be offensive? Wake up, good people of India! The time has come to put an end to this shit! Take back the night! You can even demand major Hollywood distribution of those crazy Bollywood musicals you apparently love so much (I’ve seen a couple, they’re a good time!). Whatever! Just put a stop to “The Love Guru”. Please. It’s up to you.

And, no, it’s not the one you’ve already seen a hundred times. It’s the new one, and though I couldn’t believe that I could get any more pumped to see it…I am. Robert Downey Jr. in full-on sarcastic prick mode is a god. Add Jeff Bridges with a bald head and crazy facial hair and, well, I’m definitely in. Also, the effects look dandy.
